Steven Fondriest is a retired Foreign Service Officer with over 25 years of experience in shaping and implementing U.S. foreign policy and international development programs.

Steven’s career in international development started as an Agricultural Volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Guatemala, which lead to a Foreign Service Officer position with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).  His career with USAID spanned multiple bilaterial and regional assignments, including tours in Tanzania, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Haiti, Washington, D.C., and the Eastern and Southern Caribbean.  His work at USAID primarily focused on agricultural development and food security, natural resource management and resilience, and private sector growth and partnerships.

Other public sector work includes positions at the Congressional Office of Technology Assistance and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History.

Steven holds a Master’s degree in Insect Ecology from Northern Arizona University and a B.Sc. in Zoology from the Ohio State University.
